Turn Awareness into Action: Supporting Mental Health in Every Community This July, Necco Community Behavioral Health joins Mental Health America in recognizing Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, also known as BIPOC Mental Health Month. This observance honors Bebe Moore Campbell's legacy of reducing stigma and advocating for equitable access to mental health care. Her work reminds us that everyone deserves access to compassionate, culturally responsive support. Why This Month Matters Mental health is essential to overall well-being, yet many individuals in Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities face barriers to care. Stigma, discrimination, financial challenges, language differences, and limited access to culturally responsive services can make it difficult to seek help. Improving mental health outcomes requires more than awareness. It requires creating inclusive environments where individuals feel understood, respected, and supported. Turning Awareness Into Action At Necco CBH, we believe small actions can make a meaningful impact. We can all support mental wellness by: • Listening with empathy and without judgment • Encouraging open conversations about mental health • Recognizing the impact of culture and lived experiences on mental health • Connecting individuals and families with appropriate resources • Continuing to learn and reduce stigma Together, we can create communities where people feel safe seeking support. Support Where Children and Families Need It Most Necco's school-based behavioral health providers meet children and families where they are, offering counseling services at school, in the home, and in community settings. These services help reduce barriers to care while supporting resilience, healthy relationships, and emotional well-being.
